Tell us about yourself:

In May of 2024, I will be graduating from Augustana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing! Additionally, in May of 2025, I will graduate with a Master of Arts in Sports Administration and Leadership. I was born here in Sioux Falls and grew up Tea, SD. Growing up, I knew I was destined to help people. I am an avid reader and love nothing more than a good story! Naturally, going into communications and marketing seemed right for me. Following graduation, I am determined to take the leap and leave South Dakota to chase my dream of working in communications and public relations in the sports industry!

What inspired you to apply to Startup Sioux Falls?

Multiple students from Augustana have interned with Startup Sioux Falls and one of my friends, Amber Frigaard, was their most recent intern! After hearing from her about her experience, I decided to look into the internship program. I have always been a planner, organizer, and strong communicator. Reading the previous interns reflections and the various programs and opportunities that Startup provides for the community, I was drawn to apply!

What are you hoping to take away from this internship?

My primary responsibilities have revolved around the planning and execution of programs and events! Ranging from planning meetings, communicating with community members, to setting up and attending events, I have gained an insightful and memorable experience from my internship! I will be leaving with strengthened skills of event planning, program promotion, mass communication, and digital marketing.

What do enjoy the most about the Sioux Falls community?

The level of support and welcoming nature is truly heart-warming. At each of the events and programs I have attended there has not been a single instance where it was not been clear how involved, driven, and passionate everyone is. The success is celebrated together, the weaknesses are tackled jointly, and the ideas flow constantly! The vibrant environment is what helps each of these individuals prosper. Having been able to witness this first-hand has been inspiring.

As Jaeya's internship comes to a close, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for her contributions and the positive impact she has made. Her commitment and enthusiasm have left a lasting impression on all of us. We wish Jaeya the very best in her future career endeavors, confident that she will continue to excel and inspire wherever she goes. Thank you, Jaeya, for all your hard work and dedication – you will be greatly missed!
