Job Description: The MVP Intern at Startup Sioux Falls supports the operational efficiency of our facilities while contributing to the organization’s administrative needs. This position offers hands-on experience in facility management, event support, and administrative tasks, aligned with our mission to empower founders and foster innovation in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Startup Sioux Falls is seeking a part-time Facility & Events Intern to support our space, programs, and community initiatives. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in event management, business operations, or the startup ecosystem.
Responsibilities
1. Facility Oversight
- Supervise the facility during events, ensuring compliance with booking protocols and maintaining security.
- Manage event setup and breakdown, ensuring a presentable and functional environment.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules.
- Provide exceptional customer service for facility rentals, addressing client inquiries and coordinating with vendors and staff.
2. Program & Events Support
- Assist the program and events team in delivering high-quality experiences that align with Startup Sioux Falls' mission.
3. Administrative Assistance
- Support the front desk during peak hours or as needed, handling calls and visitor inquiries.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and office supply management.
4. Community & Special Projects
- Participate in community outreach initiatives.
- Support the President and Director of Programming in special projects that enhance Startup Sioux Falls’ impact.
Qualifications
- Trustworthy, professional, and able to handle responsibilities with discretion.
- Enrollment in or completion of a two-year college program (preferred fields: business, event management, or related).
- Interest or experience in startups, small businesses, or nonprofit environments.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience with event management software (e.g., Office RnD) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation for occasional off-site duties.
Work Hours & Compensation
- Part-time internship, requires up to 30 hours per week.
- $18 per hour.
